CSKA (Russia)

Perm. April 21-22, 2001

CSKA:

The Olympic Champion and former CSKA player Valeriy Tikhonenko took the Head Coach position in summer and started the formation of a new roster.
The Moscow team has signed the NBA-experienced American guard Rusty LaRue and the Latvian guard Juris Umbrasko. Members of the Russian National Team Andrei Fetisov and Nikita Morgunov have also joined the Russian Champions as well as experienced American center Roy Rogers.
However there will be some familiar faces in the line-up. The Lithuanian center Gintaras Einikis, who won the Bronze Medal in Sydney Olympics and the Croatian guard Vladan Alanovic have extended their contracts. The new Russian basketball's sensation Andrei Kirilenko has also decided to stay in CSKA for at least one more year, though Utah Jazz scouts have kept inviting him to the NBA.
